A Walmart Parking Lot, $234,000 in Dimes, and 11 Years: What the Palmer Sentencing Says About Cargo Theft in 2026

On September 11, 2026, a federal judge sentenced Philadelphia man Haneef Palmer to 11 years in prison and ordered $1 million in restitution for his role in a cargo theft ring that stole more than $1.5 million in freight from at least ten victims between January 2023 and July 2024, including $234,500 in newly minted U.S. dimes from a truck parked overnight in a Walmart lot.
